RAW CLASS/ CRITIQUING IMAGE

BULL

A spectacular piece of art work from Michel Tuffury. What I see here is a Bull covered with old and new empty corned beef tins. I can see the red colour of the recycled corned beef tins,  clearly visible. The bull is so calm, sweet and cool, but it also looks scary, I imagine when it gets angry, what might happen? will it go into a rampage?.

It is neatly riveted together to create a nice piece of art work. It reminds me a lot about the Bull fighting movies or about the Bull fighters, and how they have confidence to face the angry Bull when they charge towards them. And also reminds me of robots that are controlled by remotes.

To me the bull portrays a picture of how developing countries are being exploited by large corporate businesses, using these countries as a junk yard. And I think Michel Tuffury being an islander himself saw these issues and extravagantly re-used and weaved these wasted tin cans into something that the manufacturers will marvel at. His work teaches me that wastes can be recreated to create a magnificent sculpture or art work.

Reduction wood block print from Heather Aziz.

This piece of art work by Heather Aziz is a reduction wood block print on hand made paper. The colour of this art work is yellow, red, black and white. The background colour of this art work is blue with a hint of light blue.

The scenery is just so refreshing. Which I believe is the sea and the image is a turtle swimming so sweetly in the deep blue ocean. The turtle is one of the most humble and gentlest sea creature that human beings can encounter. And seeing a turtle in this art work one can be reminded that  turtles are endangered species. And it also reminds me that turtles are not allowed to be killed in my country unless there is a big feast than people can be allowed to kill some.

For us who live near the sea we see turtles nearly every day so we classify turtles as our friends.

CHAINSAW WOOD SCULPTURE.

I see many wood carving sculptures, but the piece of work I see now is just magnificent because not only done by chainsaw but also finely finished. I see green, brown, white and grey colours.

The rich brown colour of the wood is still striking, so beautiful and fits well with the image. The grain of the wood makes the fish look just right. The fish is a big "Mouth Brass".

The lines, fins and the tail of the fish are well portioned, all carved by chainsaw and finely finished by hand tools. It reminds me a lot about my environment back home in the Solomon islands, where I see fish in the ocean every day.

The fact that people can be educated when they see things. So I picture that this carving can remind people, of how they can sustainably harvest their sea resources especially the endangered species.

Over harvesting can be a threat and destroy natural resources of the sea for example, fish and other sea creatures.

Also one of the issues people often talked about is over harvesting of trees. Wood carving is a good way of recreating, like recycling old trees from someones yard that has been cut down. They can be carved by chainsaw wood sculptors and the whole environment and atmosphere is decorated by these beautiful carvings.

PENCIL 3D DRAWING.

I see white, red, grey and brown colours. I also see white paper folded in half, a drawing of long finger nails cutting into the white paper. It is a drawing that demonstrates real life. Sometimes we there are good and bad times.

The good times demonstrates in the real mans hand and the bad or evil times demonstrated in the drawing of the fingers with long finger nails. It is a scary scene when someone gets angry its just like the drawing, they can hurt some one with their hands. It looks like an eagles claws very sharp and scary when they see their prey, they dive down and grab them with their sharp claws and fly off.

The drawing reminds me of a horror movie and the vampire movies so frightening when they want to eat people. This drawing fascinates me very much I really like the 2D drawing effect and also it can be transformed into 3D drawings. I think Alessandro Diddi is really good in pencil drawings.

LENS CLASS.

BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT.

What work is the position we want to capture from the scene. And four of us come as a team, me as a camera man.We tried to get Leo to sit on a chair but the right height doesn't work out right so he has to sit on the floor.

What didn't work is the suits they were wearing doesn't fit the scene.

What next is we're going to get suits and change location for the background.

LENS CLASS/LOW KEY LIGHT/HIGH KEY LIGHT

LOW KEY LIGHT.

I can see it heighten the sense of scene. It create my image as a variety and establish mood.Low key lighting here create a high contrast between dark and light areas of my face and body, reduces or eliminate the background. The use of low key lighting is very selectively so that only specific portion of my image are illuminated.

HIGH KEY LIGHTING.

High key lighting is the opposite to low key. It made our image look very bright. Our image look brighter, all the tones were in the upper range of brightness. And also the high key lighting here reduces the contrast in our images and the background is bright white.
