LENS CLASS / REBECCA

Lens class to get a direct light picture, diffused light picture and a reflected light picture.

This exercise is to show how it looks like if i use a
reflector. I like the way the reflector shines and show more details of my face. Because
i got brighter and a softer picture of myself. I think it would be more better if  some body holds the reflector rather than me holding it.

This picture shows a direct light photo. This made me think of all the possibilities that can be achieved from direct light photos. The direct light shows the darker parts of my body.I wonder if it gives me a different look if i face side ways.I like the contrast of dark and light on my face.

This picture shows the reflector.

This picture shows the diffused photo.

LENS CLASS / REBECCA / PANORAMA

 SELF DIRECTED TUTORIAL.

These are the three pictures that i'm work on right now. I got it right when i listen to self tutorial on and on again on panorama.Try it out several times and its working!!I was really excited. Need to work more panorama to remember the process.

Called, "We are relentless."
Screen print on card board.

I like his work. Mainly about the process i think he did only one screen and printed it three times to get three identical images of a person.

One the latest pieces of Nancy's work.
Blends the faces of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama together.

The process is two images are seamlessly merged  using separate layers in photoshop, employing blending tools, multiply fitters, and the eraser tool.

Iranian airforce Plane had been copied by designers from one image to another image to advertise the "presence" of a new fighter jet which does not exist. Very tricky one can't tell how they did it, thats the magic of photoshop.

I like this illustration, its an illustration that one can face every day. Confused, undecided of what to do.All the things he thought of were too many, wondering which one to do first.Thats were planning comes in to avoid stress.

UNTITLED WORK.

But i like the work. Simple, changing the photo with his / her idea not too much work just drawing.

UNTITLED WORK.

This drawing tells a lot of story. Areal life scene maybe in marriage setting, things aren't going very well. Not agree with some issue, unfaithful with one another. OH!!!! stress, worry, confused.

IMAGE CLASS. My self portrait / Frances class.

FRANCES CLASS: MY SELF PORTRAIT.

First i have to choose pictures so i google New zealand landscape for my first image. And than google up Tiger and than Lion to work on my self portrait and of course my photo. I have to do it on photoshop so i go to photoshop and build layers.
I use a rectangular marquee tool and mostly eraser tool mainly opacity and brush preset picker to get my image.

I work with four images 1- My image.
                                       2- A Tiger.
                                       3- A Lion.
                                       4- A sunset landscape.

REBECCA'S LENS CLASS: week 4, Tuesday / Presentation.

My first impression when i entered the gallery is the red colour. How he put a red carpet that connects to the first image. The second thing is cleanliness in the room, the whole scenery is very clean, painted in white.

The First image that connects to the door with a red carpet i see is a carved figure and a painted image that looks just the same. The image i see is a man wearing a crown that shines.

The second picture that draws my attention is on my right, three images that looks the same only the one in the middle is painted in red, the two on both sides painted in black. I notice the distance between them is much closer than all the pictures in the entire room.

The three pictures that follows are all on the same wall with their spaces are all the same reflecting the same story. I can see he placed all the pictures at eye level so you don't have to look down or look up to see the pictures.

One more thing i notice is you can't see how he put the pictures on the wall, pictures are nicely fitted to the wall with the same distance. Theres nothing there to distract the pictures or the scene.

Another thing i noticed is the lights that reflects the picture or shine to the pictures are all placed at the top of the room so you can clearly see the images without even going very close.

And also i noticed that this two birds are placed on a different wall and on the wall outside the building is a big bird. The whole scenery is neatly organised to suit the colour he choose.

Frances class exercise:

STENCIL ARTIST: SHANTA (PAUL) -
He's originally from New Zealand and he is a stencil artist and a graphic designer / a stencil art finalist in 2010 - 2012..

ABOUT HIS WORK:
What i like about his work is the choice of colours in his work they fits well with the image, the type and symmetry are all things i admire in his styles of work. The right styles i really like in my art work. His inspirations comes from the beautiful outdoors, beaches, travels and his family.

HIS PROCESS. -
He starts with pencil to paper, he usually sketch out a few rough concepts on paper and then refine them on the computer. Being able to add colour with a click of a button or get an overall sense of scale utilising various design programs really helps the concept stage. Once he is happy with the concept he print it out and get started with his cutting. His stencils vary from 1 layer to many. Sometimes he just keep building it up until he's happy and think its done.Other times he just walk away and get back to it with a fresh set of eyes.
He thinks the hardest part to be a stencil artist is the awkward slip of the blade that often cuts into the closest flesh in his hands. He does what he can do because he loves to do it not because he have to.

RAW CLASS / BLOGGING STATEMENT OF INTENT.

RAW. week 3 tuesday.       11/3/2014

EXERCISE 2 (BLOG)

Talking about art to me its about a wide range of all the beautiful things that i see, feel and touch. Expressing them by illustrations in painting, drawing and sketching.
I believe very much on bringing my tradition and culture alive. By illustrating them in art, for example we make traditional figures in woods (carvings / sculptures) that reflects our traditional images. Reviving traditional practices not so much of doing them but teaching them to our young generation, whist they don't know where they came from.

RAW CLASS / CASSANDRA

RAW EXERCISE 2.

MY HERO.

Life can be so hard and meaningless at times, especially when you come to desperate situation where you need some one to rely and stand beside in time of need. To cheer you up and provide for you. Thats exactly what happened to me in my teenage years and i wowed that i had to do something meaningful for my life. Work hard, independent to the challenges that awaits me.
So i started my courier as a sculptor never realising that people around me gave important and constructive comments like "He was just like his father."They saw my work improving because i was strong,my strong ambition to do things. My father is a well known sculptor in our community in his days. He was really good with his hands and hard working. Elderly folks are telling me endless stories about my fathers skills in making traditional sculptures but i take it for granted not until i work my way through until i visited a gallery and saw a magnificent figure stand right in front of me with a big label that it was one of my fathers master piece, made by my father. Standing there right beside my fathers work or art, trying to recall all the phrases they labelled my father and really wanted to thank him for who i was today but couldn't because he passed away when i was young, but the impact that he left in my life i cherished, he is my hero. All i can remember about him now is he is so loving, caring and so responsible, and that is the inspiration that stays with me until now.

I strongly believe if he was still alive he will be proud of his son representing his country (Solomon islands) in various art exhibition and festivals around the pacific countries in sculpture and art work. My brothers and i are proud of him for who he was, a sculptor and a father. All i could say now is "HE IS MY HERO."

My deep image.
I set the aperture really high and the shutter really slow to get a deep image.

My blurry image.
To get a blur picture set the shutter slow.
