ABOUT MY COMMUNITY.

Talking about my community, the main issue that mostly affects the lively hood of my people both young and old and it will affect the next generation is over harvesting of our natural resources. I'm  talking about facts here that really are affecting us. People now are frustrated of how life will be when all our resources are gone. These issues were done by the government, the company owners (mainly Asian companies) with a signed agreement by the village chiefs. The over harvesting of sea resources:
*FISH
*BEACH DEAMER
*CRAYFISH
*GIANT CLAMSHELL
And over harvesting of land resources mainly round log exporting as we have big areas of rain forest, i mean thick jungle rain forest that has been harvested and exported to Asia countries. This would be the issue that my community would like me to stand up for.

THE AUDIENCE.

The audiences here would be all the people who come across  and saw it. All the communities in the islands has been affected one way or the other so if i start it off with my community and everybody will see it. Theres going to be a whole lot of people supporting it. Few of the people in the villages were illiterated so will only see pictures or images instead of reading so audience will be all the people to support the message. But it will only be targeted to the certain groups concerned.

ADDRESSED TO: 

I would be addressing their messages to these following groups of people or organisations. The first group of people would be the Politician, the Parliamentarians (members of the national government) whom the people elect to power through voting system. The second group of people would be the Asian companies who are operating in and around our area, and the third group would be the village chiefs, tribes board of trustees and village elders who is very greedy in allowing our resources to be harvested by the foreigners to get very little money as royalties from the operations. These would be our targeted groups that the matter will be addressed to.

ART TECHNIQUE.

The type of art that i think would be suitable for any one to see and understand in the solomon islands setting is screen printing, stencil spray painting and painting. These are the technical that would get the message across. People are excited and proud to wear t/shirts that are designed to attract the community when they see them. If they see the message on the t/shirts hopefully the news will spread and the community members will have to get one and wear them to get the message across more fast and effectively.

STYLES.

The styles that would get the message across effectively would be cartoons and illustrations. The type of cartoon that will catch their attention and the word that has strong meanings to tell the people to rethink change their self centred plans. Words or phrases would be another one we will do and place them on banners and hang them on public places.

WHERE TO PUT THEM.

There are two things that people can't live without. Food and clothes so the first place would be on T/shirt. Where i come from  the climate is really hot so the people wear t/ shirts every day so the t/shirts would be a great way to get messages across to the people. And the other one would be on banners using stencil and spray painting. Market place in the urban centres/ stations would the suitable places for placing the banners.

I would rather be a part of voicing the community's concern to educate the people and the politician to rethink in using and harvesting our resources in a more sustainable ways that will benefit the next generation.
YES! political art has a part in my life. And would very much involve in making it happen on behalf of my own people and community.
